RDSS

The RDSS—Rapid Deployment Shelter System—is an advanced concept in rigid-wall shelter technology. Designed to military, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and ASTM standards and specifications, the RDSS is a compact, self-sufficient, transportable system that can be fully deployed by one person in less than two minutes. With the touch of a button, RDSS unfolds from a 20’ International Organization for Standards (ISO) shipping container into a 400 ft² rigid-wall shelter. With its on-board diesel generator and heating/air conditioning system, the RDSS provides electricity and a climate controlled environment for 72 hours on one tank of fuel. Deployed as a self-sufficient unit, RDSS is suitable for humanitarian assistance operations and disaster relief efforts around the world. The basic design is configurable for applications such as relief shelters, barracks, offices, classrooms, medical triage, and decontamination units to name just a few. In short, RDSS can be deployed for most any use requiring a 400 ft² rigid-wall enclosure.

RDSS Stages of DeploymentFor other specialized applications, alternate construction materials and designs provide ballistic protection up to NIJ Level IV, biological and chemical protection. RDSS can provide a sterile environment for medical teams when and where such facilities are required. The unit may be configured as a surgical suite, as a command-and-control center, or a field operations base.

In the closed, transport configuration, the RDSS meets ISO 1C standards and provides over 450ft3 of mission payload storage space. Once the RDSS is resting on the ground, it can be leveled with the integrated manual or optional automatic leveling system. The RDSS requires no outriggers and can be opened while resting on a trailer. Equipment stored during transport is easily moved into operation. No other rigid-wall shelter system goes from transport to operational configuration in less time (under two minutes) or with less manpower (one person).

RDSS on top of mobile trailerRDSS ships as a standard ISO 1C container. This design facilitates shipment around the world via conventional means such as truck, rail, ship, or aircraft. Units can be stacked nine high minimizing storage costs while maximizing storage density.

Adaptive Methods exclusively manufactures the patented RDSS for military, humanitarian, disaster relief, and other commercial applications.

Pharmacy

The extreme flexibility of the RDSS allows for the secure operation of pharmacy needs.

Medical Triage

Configured as a medical or surgical suite the RDSS provides a sterile environment for treatment.

Decontamination Unit

Secure contained environment for all hazardous decontamination operations.

Operations Center

Rapid deployment and setup of command-and-control centers are essential in all situations.

Housing

From first responders to emergency housing needs the RDSS provides instant shelter in all weather.

1 DuraPlate® is a registered trademark of Wabash National, L.P. DuraPlate is 100% recyclable, lightweight, strong, rigid, weather-resistant material composed of a high-density polyethylene core layered between two galvanized steel skins with a baked on Polyester paint finish.

2 Kydex® is a registered trademark of Kleerdex Company, LLC. Kydex is a thermoplastic alloy extrusion. It is impact resistant, weatherized for extreme environments and depending upon the grade carries fire ratings of UL 94 V-0 and 5V; UL 746C; FAR 25.853 (a) and (d); BS 476 Parts 6 &7); MVSS 302, Class 1/A; and ASTM E-162. It is also chemically resistive, easily cleaned with no staining, fading, or surface damage.
