Adaptive Methods was a contributing sponsor for the 2007 TVC National Summit held May 29-30, 2007 in Kingsport, Tennessee. The theme of the 14th annual event was “New Corridor Solutions for America’s Biggest Challenges” with panel discussions on topics including “Advancing America’s Energy Security”; “Solving America’s Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Shortage”; and “Building a Secure and Resilient America”. Each year the TVC brings together national and business leaders to address challenges and opportunities facing the Tennessee Valley and our nation. The TVC has grown into a nationally recognized, bipartisan effort founded on brining leaders together to consider and openly discuss issues. There were over three hundred participants at this year’s summit representing the spectrum of small to large private and public employers in the valley. The TVC area includes Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee and Virginia. With a large concentration of DoD industries in Huntsville, AL and the nation’s largest DoE laboratory facility in Oak Ridge, TN, over $25 billion annually is pumped into the TVC economies.
Representing the area at the national level were US Senators Lamar Alexander and Bob Corker along with Tennessee’s 3rd District Congressmen Zach Wamp; Lincoln Davis; David Davis; and Bud Cramer. Cynthia Glassman, Under Secretary for Economic Affairs, was on hand to address the national issues surrounding a growing shortage of engineering and mathematics students here in the US. Major public and private industry leaders included Colonel Arthur Huber, Commander of Arnold Engineering Development Center Air Force Material Command, Arnold AFB; Ted Sherry, Manager Y-12 National Nuclear Security Administration; Shar Hedrick, Manager NASA Marshal Space Flight Center; Tom Kilgore, President and CEO Tennessee Valley Authority; George Dials, President and GM of BWXT/Y-12; and Jeff Wadsworth, Director Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
