Senior Fusion Systems Research and Development Engineer
Centreville, VA

We are a privately-owned defense contractor, which, in partnership with the federal government, addresses critical U.S. Navy Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) needs.
Applicants selected for employment will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. citizenship, for access to sensitive information.
Fusion systems design and development lead position targeting research proposal efforts, R&D projects, and Program of Record automated hard and soft fusion objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):
- Design and development of C2 automated hard and soft fusion technologies to include framework designs, automated data fusion algorithms, higher level fusion (L2-L5) components and architectures, geo-spatial tracking, target state estimation, command and control, and decision management capabilities
- Technical direction for fusion systems technology development, performance assessment, and research application development
- Preparation and conduct of oral presentation and demonstration of Adaptive Methods fusion technology products to current and potential military/commercial customers, symposia, and government-industry technical working groups
- Competitive technical proposal preparation
- Planning and competitive strategy for fusion technology development
REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND EDUCATION:
- Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics Degree
- Ten years of research and/or applications development experience in one or more of the mission systems technologies identified above
- Excellent and verifiable customer and industry peer-group communications skills
- Proposal preparation experience
- Prototyping or applications software development
- Planning and competitive strategy for fusion technology development
- Capability to generate new business
DESIRABLE JOB SKILLS (one or more of the following):
- Anti-Submarine Warfare combat systems, weapon control, and/or C4I systems
- Advanced degree in engineering, physics, or mathematics
- Remote, multi-sensor command and control systems
- Distributed, networked sensor systems
- Unmanned vehicle control systems
- FORCEnet and net-centric warfare systems development
- Command and decision displays
- Services-oriented architecture design and software development
- Systems Engineering methodologies
- Technical/Journal publications in one or more of the mission systems technology areas

Software Developer, Entry Level

RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):
- Software design, development, research, and testing to support Mission Systems products.
- Updating bug tracking software to summarize design and status, code documentation, and user manuals.
- In-field support with some travel required.
REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND EDUCATION:
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
- Entry level, 0-2 years of experience.
- Hands on experience with Java and Linux.
- Must be able to work independently or with a team.
- Ability to communicate technical solutions to project management and the rest of the development team.

DESIRABLE JOB SKILLS:
- 2+ years of hands on experience with Linux and Java.

Systems Engineer/Analyst

Seeking a Systems Engineer/Analyst to join the Signal Processing Group at Adaptive Methods. Engineer will help design, develop, test and integrate advanced signal processing algorithms for Navy Sonar systems. Candidate should have a background in signal processing and an interest in developing and testing algorithms for scientific applications.
RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):
- Algorithm and simulation development
- Algorithm tuning and optimization trade studies
- Signal processing data analysis
- Systems engineering support for test/integration activities
- Support the transition of software algorithms from Matlab to a real-time architecture environments
REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND EDUCATION:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent). Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Acoustics highly desirable.
- 0 to 5 years of experience
- Work experience, projects or coursework in Digital Signal Processing
- Basic understanding of Adaptive Signal Processing theory
- Good verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to travel as required
DESIRABLE JOB SKILLS:
- Exposure to Sonar or Radar signal processing applications including topics such as:
i) Digital beamforming
ii) Matched filtering
iii) Frequency domain analysis (e.g., spectrogram processing, spectral estimation) - Experience with Matlab
- Software development experience in C/C++ or Java
- Familiarity with underwater acoustic signal propagation

Seeking an Software Engineering/Computer Science Intern to join the Signal Processing Group at Adaptive Methods to help develop, test and integrate complex real-time software for Navy SONAR signal processing systems. Candidate should have an interest in developing and testing software for scientific applications.
RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):
- Work as part of a small team of engineers and software developers providing advanced solutions for Navy programs in the area of SONAR Signal Processing.
- Develop software tools to assist with data collection and analysis activities.
- Support algorithm assessments activities and test and integration events working closely with our software engineering leads.
REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND EDUCATION:
- Pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science
- Software development experience in C/C++ or Java
