Senior Research and Development Scientist

Virginia or Maryland Office

Applicant will be able to work in either the Virginia or Maryland location.

RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):

  • Design and development of sensor systems technologies to include sensor signal processing, beamforming, automated detection and classification processing
  • Technical direction of sensor systems technology development, performance assessment, and application programs
  • Preparation and conduct of oral presentation and demonstration of Adaptive Methods technology products to current and potential military/commercial customers,  symposia, and government-industry technical working groups
  • Competitive technical proposal preparation
  • Corporate planning and competitive strategy for technology development

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PhD in Signal Processing or Underwater Acoustics
  • 0-10 years of research and/or applications development experience in one or more of the sensor systems technologies identified above
  • Excellent and verifiable customer and industry peer-group communications skills
  • Proposal preparation experience
  • Prototyping or applications software development

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Anti-Submarine Warfare combat systems
  • Advanced degree in engineering, physics, or mathematics
  • Automated tracking and state estimation algorithm development
  • High-fidelity acoustic sensor simulation/stimulation for active and passive sonar
  • Adaptive beamforming or environmentally adaptive signal processing
  • Acoustic sensor design and acoustic sensor performance analysis
  • Acoustic and non-acoustic sensor detection and classification displays
  • COTS-based signal processing software design and software development
  • DODAF Systems Engineering methodology
  • Technical/Journal publications in one or more of the sensor systems technology areas

Travel will be required to various Adaptive Methods offices as well as client sites.
